Here is a quick hack for you.
When your rice cooker spews hot, starchy liquid out of its vent hole, it makes a mess and the hot steam can easily burn someone. If it has steamer basket, a quick fix is to use the basket as a buffer for the hot steam.
Place the lid on the cooker, cover with a lightweight cloth (cheesecloth) or paper towel so the cooker still vents effectively, Then place the steamer basket upside down on the top to hold the cloth in place. The cloth will absorb the liquid.
As a bonus, using this method helps keep the steam from entering closely located upper cabinets.
